Looking to extend that summer tan? Or are you like me, and a tan is something that never happens anyways? Check out my thoughts on some of the top self tanners from different brands to see what works on a fair complexion.

The Story

So basically self-tanning has been this huge fear of mine forever. I am super pale, and I have seen so many people go "Oompa Loompa" from it over the years. After moving to Ireland, I saw that all the girls where obsessed with self-tanning. I figured, if these pale girls can do it then so can I! I rounded up some of the top/most innovative self tanners that all claim work for fair skin, and put them to the test!

Disclaimer: I did have a rash on my arms for a few weeks due to an unrelated allergic reaction, so you will see some bumps and rough patched of my skin. Please try to ignore those if possible! Thanks xx

The Verdict

My arms look so silly after this testing, and it's too hot to wear long sleeves! The things that I do for you guys :P

My top 2 choices are *Drum Roll*

Are you as surprised as me? Before I even applied any product, I thought for sure that Clarins was going to be my top pick! I just couldn't get over the texture and scent of the Biotherm (So amazing). Now Clarins face did make it to the top two because it is so innovative & it is a true gradual. Biotherm gets to a pretty dark colour (for me) quicker than the Clarins so for the people as scared of tan as me, the Clarins is your best pick.

I sadly did not find a body one that I was in total love with, they all ran a bit too orange for my liking. As I mentioned though, I tried Bioderma out on a medium skin-toned friend and it reacted well with her.

Self-tanner is full of trail and error. You need to really pick what is going to fit into your routine and play around. Most stores have good return policies so if you go orange, bring it back and try another. I know that isn't the most fun way but everyone's body chemistry is different. None of these products are "bad", some just don't work for me.

Let me know about your journey with self tanners in the comments below! I would love to hear how different skin tones deal with this.

Until next time,
