I was lucky to be able to go to the seasonal training and launch of the new booster step from Shiseido. Click read more to see all about this neat new skincare step and innovation from Shiseido. Launching in stores across Canada on August 14th! Aka it should be in stores now! ;)

About the Product

Cost: 30ml - $79 | 50ml - $115
Where to Buy: Select Shoppers Drug Mart locations

"After 20 years of research, Shiseido is the first to target the skin's immunity via the Langerhans Cells" - Shiseido Canada

So what is a Langerhan Cell? They are this little adorable star shaped cell that is just hanging out in your skin. They help to defend your skin against aggressors. This little guy alerts your other cells that bad things are going to happen and they need to protect your skin. Now overtime your Langerhan cells go away, or don't work as well because of repeated UV damage.

Ultimune is NOT a serum, it is a pre-serum or "booster" step. You will use this in order to boost your skin's immunity to harmful internal and external aggressors. Ultimune does contain a light fragrance that is supposed to be calming and energizing (I feel like those two things are counter-active but oh well!).

Ingredients

Picture
Ultimune contains 3 main Technologies

First: The Ultimune Complex. This includes Aqua in pool, an exclusive ingredient that maintains moisture and reinforces the skins' barrier function. B-glucan, to enhance the function of Langerhan Cells and finally Bulgarian Rose Water to promote collagen production.

Second: A Botanical Cocktail of Ginkgo Biloba Leaves, Perilla and Thyme help to maintain a healthy skin surface.

Third: ImuCalm Compound of Rose and Lotus to calm and energize your skin.

My Thoughts

So as far as superficially, the bottle is pretty...kudos on that Shiseido! The scent to me smells like Grapfruit, it's super refreshing. The texture is very hydrating and lightweight. Now it is hard for me to speak to it's ability to protect your skin etc, because it's hard to post a launch and have a full knowledge of if it works long-term. I would say it is totally worth checking out, I know the price point isn't cheap but it's less than say the booster step from Lancome called Advanced Genifique.

Would you add another step to your regime?

Make sure to go to your local Shoppers Drug Mart that carries Shiseido as they will have some samples of this serum around for you to try out! Let me know what you think  :)

Until next time,
