One of the biggest launches of this year is here! These are my first impressions of this magical new device. Click read more to see my thoughts!

About the Product/Concept

From Benefit.com

The idea behind this product is really neat. It is basically your standard Gel Liner (usually found in a pot and used with a separate brush). This concept is putting both products together to give the user an easier time getting close to the lash line to create a cat eye.

Cost: $29CND
Where to Buy: All Shoppers Drug Mart locations (pretty much) have it, even if they don't carry Benefit they have a stand to promote it on the front or back cash section. All Sephora Locations would have it as well.

Packaging

So the outer package looks almost identical to the They're Real Mascara. I assume that they are attempting to expand the line (they also launched a makeup remover with this product, only sold at locations that carry the full range of Benefit). It describes the product, gives some stats etc... One thing I wish it had was something to tell the customer to keep the Orange tip thing...because in order for the product to not dry out, you really need to keep that tip.

As for the actual packaging of the product...It has a really interesting applicator thingy. You twist the bottom and the gel product comes out. The construction and design is decent. It feels well made.

Swatches/Application

Now on to the most important part! How does the product actually work? The actual product (the gel), is very smooth and dries to a matte finish. It is super dark and sets quickly. Now it does take some practice, try to draw a few lines on your hand first. I find that it is almost impossible to get a thin line with this, it will almost always give you the thick cat eye look. Because of the fact that it dries so quickly, you have very little time to make a mistake. As you can see on my eye, it dragged a little bit and I wanted to go over it but I found that it started to ball up a little. The quality of the product is impressive, I'm just not sure that I love the method of application.

Final Thoughts

It's a gimmick, a very good one, but still a gimmick. I think you need to look at all of the facts before you run out to purchase this. If you are pro at applying gel liner with a brush, you don't really need this. Beginners or people on the go, this is perfect. I think for me personally the best use of this, is if I am wearing a neutral look and after work I am going out with friends. I can have this in my purse to create a quick and easy dramatic look. Students, Business Women, Mothers...all great candidates for this. A self proclaimed make-up pro/addict like myself? I probably could have skipped this and saved a few bucks.

Have any of you guys tried this product out? What did you guys think? Will you consider picking it up/or leaving it after reading reviews online?

Until next time,
amye89 xoxo
