It's crazy to be thinking about Fall already, but it is that time of year! Matte lips seem to be on trend for this upcoming Fall season. Click read more to see swatches and my thoughts on these new lippies from Urban Decay!

Product Information

Price: $26 CAD
Where:  Sephora & Select Shoppers Drug Mart Locations

This lipstick is described as a rich, buttery and matte. Now personally I tend to avoid mattes because I have notoriously dry lips and mattes tend to make them look a lot worse. However, the bold matte lip seems to be all the rage for Fall 2015. This means that I have to take the plunge!

Some of the key ingredients that caught my attention is the avocado, olive oil and the shea butter. These are all things I would attribute to a good quality cream lipstick. The fact that they have these ingredients inside of a matte lipstick is really intriguing.

They have released 9 shades in total with this collection.

Well lets get to the fun part!

Product Swatches/Thoughts

Matte After Dark

Okay, so basically I wanted to start with my favourite first. I adore this shade. To me, it is not a true matte because it has a TOUCH of shimmer going through it. That being said, I enjoy that it isn't a flat matte. After Dark is a pinky/purple shade, the shimmer running through it is a silver colour. Texture is the creamiest matte texture I have ever felt! I am in absolute awe of how comfortable this feels on my lips.

Matte Bad Blood

Picture
Now this is inspired the shade Mrs. Mia Wallace from the Pulp Fiction collection. I have two photos below comparing the two shades. I found the Bad Blood to be much more opaque and darker. The Mrs. Mia Wallace (still stunning), ran more pink, less matte and it you could see through it slightly. On the lips, the Bad Blood lipstick performed amazingly well. This one requires a lip brush and steady hand. I know that after long hours of wear, I would end up with feathering/bleeding (because I am prone to that). Please wear a waterproof lipliner with this in order to avoid that. The formula is so amazing, I can't believe how opaque it was after one swipe. Very impressive!!

Matte Blackmail

Now to the lipstick that everyone is talking about! After trying the first three, I am mildly disappointed with this one. I am not sure if it is because I was expecting magical things, or if my disappointment is justified. I mean, I still feel like it is a worthwhile lipstick to pick up. I mean who honestly has a shade exactly like this? Not many of us I bet! However, it ran a bit too matte for me. It still felt comfortable on the lips, but I found it looked a bit patchy and it wasn't as opaque as I wanted. I basically wanted the formula of Bad Blood, with this colour. It still looks good and feels good, it just didn't live up to what I had hoped for!

Overall Thoughts

Texture and pigmentation is really impressive. I would say that if you are looking for a good matte lipstick for Fall and have maybe shy'd away from mattes in the past, this collection is totally worth looking at. Just make sure you purchase a lipliner to match the shades/use one from your collection. Always moisturize your lips and exfoliate regularly if you are looking to do matte lips (or any lip stick for that matter!). If you already have Mrs. Mia Wallace, I am not sure if you need to run to the store to get Bad Blood. However it's formulation is amazing and you wouldn't regret it if you did!

How do you guys feel about the Matte Lip trend? Are you daring enough to wear something like Blackmail?

Thanks for reading guys!

Until next time,
