Essence - Lippies & Dupes

Pretty packaging, great pigmentation & some high end dupes; Can you ask for more? Essence new lipsticks have really impressed me, read more about these and see how I was able to pair some up for close matches (one is an exact dupe for a lippy that goes for over $40!!

Essence Swatches

Dupes (Or at least as close as I could get!)

Essence - Love Me

Chanel - Rouge Allure 91

The Love Me from Essence took a few more applications for full opacity, but the creamy formula didn't feel heavy on my lips. The Chanel was one coat of perfection; at a $40+ price tag however, I think the extra coats pay for themselves. Love Me is a little bit lighter, almost milkier in colour. It is hard to deny that these lipsticks both look very similar.

Estee Lauder - Coral Kiss

Now I am not 100% sure if this colour still exists, as Estee Lauder has since upgraded their packaging. However, this shows you the difference between the high end coral and the budget coral. You can clearly see that the Lauder lipstick has a little bit of shimmer to it, and is also a bit lighter than the Coral Calling. The coverage of the Essence lipstick is a bit more sheer than I would like, but it is still a beautiful colour.

Guerlain - Rouge Automatic 165

Now on camera, the Essence colour pulls a little bit warmer than it does in real life. In real life, these colours are identical. I was upset that I couldn't get a picture to fully show that. The pigmentation is outstanding in the Blush My Lips, it is less creamy feeling on the lips when compared to the Guerlain, but similarly to the Chanel, there is a major cost savings! Guerlain will run you $41+, with the Essence being under $3! Can't go wrong there.

Overall Reaction

Now when it comes to cosmetics, most people that know me are aware I am a bit of a snob. That being said, I have always had a major respect for the Essence brand since they are completely cruelty free. This is something that many "drugstore" brands (and even many luxury brands) can't seem to accomplish.

When it comes to the actual quality of the Essence products, it rivals some of my high end products (i.e. their twist up eyeliners work the exact same as my Stila one's). This is another great new launch from them, that has had the packaging step it up a bit. Of course it isn't the heavy packaging, with that all satisfying *click*, but the lipsticks are creamy and don't have an irritating smell or feel. I would honestly think any make-up newbie to full blown junkie would be happy with any of these products landing in their collection.
