This was my first attempt at making a photoshop collage! I think it turned out okay, if anyone has any tips or advice please let me know! :) Now onto what tools every Artist and girl should have in their makeup arsenal! .... BrushesOne of my favourite tools to buy and discover new brands are Brushes! I will make a post in the future if you guys are interested in my brush collection and seeing what ones I recommend for certain tasks. I have a variety of natural and synthetic hair brushes. I generally stick with higher end, as I haven't found any "drugstore" alternative that I actually enjoy. Leave me a comment if you have ones that you would recommend! Q-TipsQ-tips are such a versatile tool. They can be used to clean up after a smokey/glitter look, or even apply eyeshadows in a pinch! They are a tool that I think everyone needs to have handy. Hand SanitizerWe all have germs and bacterial on our hands and under our nails. If you are planning on touching your face, you need to have hand sanitizer to ensure you have a bacteria free environment! This will help to stop breakouts and rashes. Eyelash GlueHaving eyelash glue is great for the obvious, application of false lashes. My two favourite types are Duo & Lise Watier eyelash glue. Eyelash CurlerAn eyelash curler will help to give you great lashes and really showcase your lashes. It helps make any mascara look it's best. My two favourite brands for eyelash curlers are Shiseido and Shu Uemura. I think that you should replace your eye curler pads every 6 months and the actual tool every 1.5-2 years. ScissorsThe ones that I keep in my kit and at my makeup table are small cuticle scissors. I use these for trimming false eyelashes, shaping Q-Tips and multiple other random things that they come in handy for :) SpooliesOf course Makeup Artists need these in their kits but I think they come in handy for everyone. I just purchase mine in bulk for cheap from E-Bay.ca. I use them to comb out clumpy lashes, place my eyebrows, soften the look of powder on brows etc... Facial CottonThe best facial cotton/pads that I have found thus far are the Shiseido Facial Cotton ($11 CND). They hold my Bioderma or any other remover so well, and ensure that I don't waste any of the product. They also are so fluffy and delicate for my sensitive eye area. SharpenerI had a customer the other day ask me if they can just use a normal sharpener because they think it is a scam to have a specific sharpener for eye/lip pencils. For that I have to say NONONO! You NEED a separate sharpener. Eyeliners are built with different material to a pencil, if you use a pencil sharpener it will RUIN your eye pencils. You can find these are cheap, or spend a bit more for one that has a higher grade of steal like the sharpeners from Lise Watier. Brush CleanserLast but NOT least is brush cleanser. This is not to be mistaken with deep cleaning of brushes, which I can feature in a later post if you need to know how I deep clean my brushes. This is for spot cleaning. The bottle is from Make-up Forever but the cleanser inside is actually from MAC Cosmetics. I don't know that it is my favourite cleanser, I do also enjoy the QUO cleanser that you can get from Shoppers Drug Mart. So those are my essentials! I would love to know if you guys would add anything to that list, or if any of those items you don't find you would use. Leave a comment below, lets get a conversation started. Don't forget to enter my giveaway ending on April 19th!
Until next time! Amye89 xoxo
