The alphabet creams can be a tough category to navigate. Click Read More so I can show you some popular choices/my CC collection and tell you a little background behind the idea of a CC cream!

History - What are CC Creams?

CC creams are supposed to mean Colour Correction or Complexion Correction. I find BB creams are a bit more standard, while the CC creams are completely different brand by brand. One two really stand out as being what I would consider a true CC Cream. Those two would be the Cover FX and Smashbox, because they actually reduce dark spots/pigment over time.

CC creams came out after the big North American boom of BB creams, they where meant to capitalize on the markets love of the alphabet creams. Lets be honest, it's just another way to get your money ladies/gents ;). Everything in this industry is though, so don't get your panties in a bunch, hehe. Putting that all aside, let me talk about some of the current brands offering CC cream on the market. Enjoy!

Reviews & Swatches

Cover FX - CC Cream *

Cost: $45CND
Where to buy: coverfx.ca, Select Sephora locations & most Shoppers Drug Mart locations
SPF: 30
Coverage: Medium to Full

With an easy to navigate colour range, the CoverFX CC cream leaves you with a greater chance of finding a perfect match. One thing that I simply adore about CoverFX is the fact that they have the different undertones! It makes it super easy to determine which is you, all you have to do is pick either P-Pink, N-Neutral *equal Pink & Gold, & G-Gold. I will have to say that this is full coverage, and does take some work to apply because if you just slap it on your face...you could look like a hot mess. However if you want a great coverage, with outstanding ingredients..CoverFX is your go to. This is great for those with dark spots/age spots, because it actually contains ingredients to help diminish those spots over time! Crazy right?

GOSH - CC Cream

Cost: $24CND
Where to buy: Most Shoppers Drug Mart locations
SPF: none
Coverage: Sheer to Light

Now when I saw this, I got all giddy because it is ACTUALLY LIGHT ENOUGH!! I am the colour is paper basically, and this bad boy doesn't take a bunch of faffing around because it is the right colour and has a sheer coverage. I find because it is an illuminating product I have to pop on a bit of mattifying primer to ensure I don't look like a disco ball by the end of the day. Other than that, I have found myself reaching for this a lot. For only $24 I would say this is a must for your collection!

StriVectin - CC Cream *

Cost: $39USD (not in Canada as of yet..I don't think)
Where to buy: strivectin.com
SPF: 30
Coverage: Light to Medium

So first off, can we clearly see that this is not my colour? Okay so we are on the same page for that. This is essentially their SD cream with colour. It has some great ingredients making it more than just a moisturizer with tint. I can't really work with it, as it is much to dark for me, so keep that in mind before ordering this bad boy. Since I haven't really worn it for a full day, I can't speak to it's wear or major benefits. It just has some great ingredients, so if you can find a match it is worth a try.

Smashbox - CC Cream

Cost: $50CND
Where to buy: sephora.com, smashbox.com, and select Shoppers Drug Mart locations
SPF: 30
Coverage: Light to Medium

One of my other favs. This CC cream will reduce dark pigment in your skin over time, similar to how the CoverFX CC acts. Now it does tend to run on the orangier side, so it takes a little bit of blending on my part. I find this has a dewier finish, and medium coverage. Great CC cream, just like with most base products...I wish it went lighter since I am like paper!!

Pur Minerals - CC Cream *

Cost: $44CND
Where to buy: Select Shoppers Drug Mart locations & The Shopping Channel
SPF: 40
Coverage: Medium

Last but not least is the CC from Pur Minerals. Now I adore the 4 in 1 powders from Pur, but this was a bit of a miss for me. I don't love the texture, it's a bit hard to work with I found. I like the packaging, the pump saves you from wasting product so that is a plus. Just overall, I wouldn't run out to pick this one up. I think for a similar price point you can pick up one of the other options on my list.

So what are your thoughts on this CC/BB/ZZ trend? Do you own any alphabet creams? Thanks again for reading guys!

Until next time,
